Bibiani Mine

With over 130Moz of mineral reserves in Ghana, the majority of the Gold deposits are located in or  adjacent to the Ashanti Belt. Our Operations includes contracts for Phase-1 and Phase-2 Drilling program.

This belt is a world class gold deposit and the Paleoproterozoic Brimian series host all the significant gold deposits in West Africa

  • Drilling activities have been focused on the Bibiani main pit deposits from surface and underground deposits
  • Resolute was successful in expanding the resource base with improved confidence 
  • Phase 1 drilling program (26,100m DD) during 2015. (2015 resource below.
  • Phase 2 Drilling program (22,400m DD) during 2016-2017 culminating in updated resource model.
  • Also Diamond drilling program at Strauss-Walsh (1,000m DD) in 2017

Chirano mine

Chirano began commercial production in 2016 and operates both surface and underground mines.

GICL’s Chirano mine is located along the Sefwi Volcanic Belt, a northeast-southwest trending volcanic belt in Ghana. The mine is in the Western region, approximately 307 Kilometers northwest from the national capital city of Accra.

Commercial production at Chirano began in 2016.   In November 2018, Subika, a new underground mine which was completed on schedule and within budget, achieved commercial production, adding higher-grade, lower cost gold production at Chirano south.

Chirano adheres to the highest standards of national and internationally accepted environmental practices. Consistent with GICL’s commitment to responsible environmental stewardship, we strive to ensure that our employees and contractors abide by standards that are protective of both human health and the environment.

Certification ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is a benchmark for which top international companies are assessed to ensure adherence to the highest environmental standards. The mine was recertified for ISO 14001 (2015) in May 2018 for improved performance and showing leadership in responsible environmental stewardship.

Cyanide Code

The Chirano mine is also certified under the International Cyanide Management Code. Subscription to the code is voluntary and represents best practice in cyanide management
